OUR STORY
It all started with a simple belief.
Africa had always been something I love, the landscapes, the wildlife, the birds, the wilderness, the mountains, the people, the food, the cultures and the incredible warmth you find across East Africa.
But Mpenzi Safaris didn’t begin with a grand plan.
My background was in programming, working with Oracle and APEX and taking on different projects. Then, through conversations with my cousin, I began to see another opportunity in the world of African travel.
He had already found success in the tourism business, and I asked him a simple question:
“How can I start?”
That question eventually led me into tourism.
The journey began with Car Rental Safaris, with the domain registered in 2022. The serious work began later, particularly from 2024 and into 2025, as I started learning the business, understanding travellers and discovering just how much East Africa has to offer.
But there was something I couldn’t ignore.
There were already so many companies selling safaris. Many were offering the same destinations, the same parks and the same familiar itineraries.
I began asking myself: How do we stand out? How do we create journeys that feel personal? How do we help travellers experience more than the usual safari? And how do we build a company that genuinely cares about the person behind the booking?
That thinking led to Mpenzi. Not simply another name in the safari market. But a name inspired by something deeper: Love and Affection for Africa.
Mpenzi is our way of expressing that love through the journeys we create and the way we care for the people who travel with us. We are still growing. We are still learning. And we are still building. But the direction is clear:
We want to help people experience Africa differently.
